Summer Reading List:
First, Candy Girl by Diablo Cody, author of the screenplay Juno. The opening line totally sucked me in. “Nobody comes to Minnesota to take their clothes off, at least as far as I know.” From what I understand, she quit her normal job and began stripping to have an experience to write about. Sounds crazy.
Next, Are you There Vodka, It’s me Chelsea by Chelsea Handler. I love her. It was hilarious!
Third, The Shack by William Young. Great book and it changed me. READ IT!
Fourth, I Was Told There’d Be Cake by Sloane Crosley. This book of essays debuted on the New York Times bestseller list. Her writing is subtle and she doesn’t go for the huge punchlines. Her quiet detachment and attention to nuance make these essays hilarious.
Next, When You Are Engulfed In Flames by David Sedaris. He is a genius.
I’ve heard rave reviews on Such a Pretty Fat by Jen Lancaster. I just brought this one home, and I don’t know anything about it, except that every one I have talked to about it has read and loved it. And that’s reason enough for me.
Moose by Stephanie Klein. I love her blog, and although I knew nothing about fat camps - it was really good.
Finally, (not pictured) but I read sTori Telling by Tori Spelling. I could not resist. Honestly? I felt dirty buying this. I primarily purchased it in order to mock it, but I’ll admit the dive into her life was pretty interesting.
So, that’s it for now. I would love to know what you are reading. Reblog and let me know!
